Chronology of Events

July - August 2008. - Matthew begins to feel itchy sensations in upper thigh. We took him to the traumatologist. Diagnosis: A normal child, symptoms are due to growth. November 2008. – We are starting to see that Matthew does not draw as before, and colouring he’s outside the lines. February 2009. - His birthday was the 2nd of that month. Began to complain of eyes pain, sometimes he got wall his left eye; we took him to the ophthalmologist. Diagnosis: Normal eyesight. We Make him going to Tae Kwon do classes, showing a low balance but we supposed it was because of being beginner in that sport. March 2009. - starting to talk strange, as if he were a 2 years old child or as if his mouth were full of saliva. Low school performance, lack of concentration. Excessive stubbornness. April 2009. - Attitude Change with his family and animals, bad mood, he started shouting and crying about unimportant things. We took him to the psychologist, Diagnosis: spoiled child, he starts going to sessions with the psychologist and workshops to improve speech and concentration. May 2009 .- In early May it was observed that he couldn’t run like the others children, used to run carefully, sometimes stumbled and fell. Climbed stairs crouch as if the floor moved. In 13th we took him to the Neurologist making him a motor skills test (grabbing his nose with a finger) and he didn’t pass it. Sending us to get a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). From May 14th to May 16th. - He’s taken to Rebagliategui Hospital to consider and make necessary evidences to fully determine the diagnosis. To view the Medical History click here. May 16th. - As soon as he went out from hospital, he started with a zero diet. To learn more about Matthew's diet, click here. May 19th. - It starts with Lorenzo’s oil treatment of oil Lorenzo. May 20th. - They give us Aldosterone Seric Glucose, sodium, potassium, lipid profile DHEA-SO4, apathetic tests 17-OH seric progesterone, free testosterone Androstenedione results. To see the results. CLICK HERE. May 21st.- they give us potential visual evoked and auditions tests results. CLICK HERE. May 28th.- They give us ACTH tests results, basal dosage (a.m).CLICK HERE. May 29th.- We got the results to know if this is a genetic illness or not. It is confirmed that is it genetic, a total determination, undoubtedly it is Adrenoleukodystrophy. June 2009. He is quieter this month, less bad-tempered. June, 1st.- He begins with his occupational and physical therapy. They give us the medical report from Rebagliategui Hospital. To see it, click here. June, 5th. They took the suprarenal resonance to him. The results will be handed later although they were ahead to tell us that he succeeded the test. We have gotten some of hydrocortisone but they don’t give us the dosage yet. June, 9th. They gave the dosage for the hydrocortisone; we need more Lorenzo’s oil. They tested him the neuropsychological examination today. They are giving the results in June 11th. Tomorrow is the Medical Meeting to define what actions will be taken in Mathew’s case. June, 10th. We bought one more Lorenzo’s oil, but it seems out of date because there is a crystalline substance at the bottom of the bottle. Unfortunately Lorenzo’s oil was sold out in the only place where we could buy it. That bottle was the only one. We met with Rebagliategui Hospital doctors. They gave us the verbal report from Medical Meeting. What we already knew that Mathew has Adrenoleukodystrophy, and there is neither cure nor treatment to save him. The hospital is going to intervene as a support, it means for instance: they will act if Mathew has convulsions; otherwise he will be referred to medical checkup. Well, everybody knows that they neither are owners of the truth nor have the last word. Those days Mathew stops going to the bathroom and walks less. June, 17th. Mathew stops walking, he only can stand up. He keeps on strict diet. We don’t have Lorenzo’s oil yet. June, 18th. Mathew dilutes less, he has problems to swallow. He begins with alternative treatments such as: Factors of transference. They gave us Mathew’s mom results, she is carrier. To see her results, click here. June, 19th. They do an alternative treatment to him, based in magnets. It is called magnetic therapy. He is registered in Callao Hospital for his rehabilitation (the assurance delays too much). We have gotten Lorenzo’s oil. We start to customize him again. June, 23rd. He swallows with more difficulty. We have information about a medical institute here in Lima (thanks to your comments) Hyperbaric Medicine Center S.A.C. we hope they can help us. Today we also went to Cuba embassy.
